Initial Consultation
The process begins with a detailed consultation where we discuss your vision for the ring. Whether it’s an engagement ring, a wedding band, or a custom piece, we explore your preferences for design, metals, gemstones, and overall style. This is also the stage to discuss practicalities, such as your budget and any deadlines. Our goal is to align your vision with what is achievable, ensuring the design is both beautiful and realistic.
Material Sourcing & Incorporating Old Jewellery
We take great care in sourcing the finest materials for your bespoke pendant or earrings, working only with trusted suppliers to ensure ethical origins, outstanding quality and long-lasting beauty. From responsibly mined gemstones to hallmarked gold and platinum, every element is carefully selected to meet the highest standards of integrity and craftsmanship.
If you wish to incorporate existing jewellery, we are often able to reset or polish heirloom gemstones, allowing them to continue their story in a new design. However, reusing old gold is rarely recommended, as the refining process is complex and costly compared to working with newly hallmarked metal. Our jewellers in Tavistock, Devon will guide you through the best choices for your design, ensuring a piece that balances sentiment, value and enduring quality.
3D Modelling & Design
Once the design concept is agreed upon, we create a detailed 3D model of your ring. This stage allows you to see the design in a virtual format, making it easier to adjust proportions, settings, or decorative elements. We also take into account any structural constraints, such as ensuring the setting is secure for specific stones or that the band is durable for everyday wear.
EXPERT CONSTRUCTION
With the design finalized, our expert jewellers bring your ring to life. The type of metal you choose, whether gold, platinum, or another precious alloy, will influence the techniques we use, as each has distinct properties. Platinum is known for its strength and longevity but requires specialised tools, while gold is more malleable yet prone to surface scratches.
In very special circumstances, we can recycle old jewellery, including pieces passed down through generations. This may involve melting down and refining the metal or resetting heirloom gemstones into a new design. While possible, this process is often more costly due to the refining required, but it allows you to transform sentimental pieces into a bespoke creation that meets today’s standards.
Final Approval & Delivery
After crafting, the ring is polished, inspected, and presented for your approval. This is your opportunity to see the final piece in its entirety. If any last-minute adjustments are needed, we ensure they’re completed to your satisfaction. Once approved, your bespoke ring is beautifully packaged and ready for collection from our store in Tavistock, Devon or delivery.
